Winter Chili Cookoff & Polka Festival

Saturday February 19th, 2005 Mitchell, Nebraska

For those of you who didn’t make it to the cookoff in Mitchell – You really did miss a good time.  I would recommend to you to put it on your calendar for next year.

The pod met at the I-Hop in Loveland for breakfast and then caravanned, more or less, up to Wyoming and then across to Nebraska.  The drive was actually very easy with good roads all the way there.

Great venue for the winter months INDOORS!  While the weather was nice, but a bit on the brisk side outside, we were cozy indoors, once the chili fires got lit.  The Colorado Pod was well represented with 6 cooks.  And we took away the following - Judy Haberman - 10th Place - Steve Lee 7th Place - Kyle Haberman 6th Place - Christi Batie 5th Place - John Montgomery 4th Place - and Robert Batie 1st Place - Way to go Robert.  We also took home other awards - Steve Lee picked up 2nd Place in both Show and in the Open Chili division.  All in all it was a good trip for the Colorado Pod

Our thanks go out wholeheartedly to all the folks involved in this event.  We would like to give a special thanks to Linda Todd of Pepe's Pod.  We know the amount of work it takes to make a cookoff of this size a success, and it's folks like you that make it happen.
